What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method mindful core training that addresses the body in its entirety and brings it to its optimum potential. Joseph H. Pilates (1883-1967) developed this method of over 500 exercises and its corresponding principles

The core is the central focus. The powerhouse is the energy source consisting of muscles in the back, abdomen, hips and gluteus, from which all movement is supported. The powerhouse enables support of the spine and the position of the organs. From the inside to the outside the movement patterns of the exercises bring the body into harmony and balance. Pilates trains the body, soul and spirit of a person in a manner that is noticeable as a whole. Strong from within, powerful from without, balanced, flexible and revitalized.
